Last days of Norway.

Very slack on the blog front lately, so here’s another big dump of posts in an effort to catch up.

We had toyed with the idea of heading up to northern Norway all season, and so with one week left of our Norway trip we headed north in search in search of gold. We only made it as far as Oppdal (nowhere near northern Norway), where we stopped in on our way to say a quick hello to Fleming Schmidt (kayaking legend and a friend of friends from home) who then convinced us to hang out for a few days and sample the treats that lay in his home region. We didn’t have the greatest luck with flows – 3 of the first 3 rivers we tried had half the amount of water needed to paddle them, at least we now know where to go next time. Add to this more cold and wet weather and the team morale was dropping fast. Motivation for driving in the car north for a long time also decreased rapidly.
We sought shelter from the weather in the Cinema, Transformers 3 in 3D helped lift the spirits, and 3 hours later we were journeying back south, tails between our legs, but also excited as there was flooding forecast. After a few days of super high water in the Sjoa region we left for one last huck in the Rauma region with the intention of spending a couple days there before we leave Norway for good.

In our 2 days up there we managed a run on the upper Rauma, and the next day the Ulvaa into the Lower Rauma. Some photo's of an epic end to our Norway trip.

just another slide on the Ulvaa, sweet run!

The Ulvaa just keeps on giving.

Sam launching off the left.

Jamie off the right.

Myself off the left.

Jamie scouting a monster slide that only Sam ran.

Discussing the burl.

"I think I can see a line..."

Sam dropping into the monster.

yep theres a kayaker in there, sam punching  the hole at the bottom.

Back into the Rauma. Ulvaa coming in from the right.

Me entering No.3

Jamie on No.4

Jamie and Sam truck and trailer. Sam looking for Salmon.

Boofing off the end of the slide. One of the sweetest moves on the river.

At the lip of Flemmingfossen. Sam visualising and feeling the line.

Committed and styling it. Flemmingfossen is a biggie.
